Joseph loves building stuff and has spent over 10 years in the industry delivering software products across the stack from ideation to design to implementation to operations.
He has spent most of his career operating in highly-regulated domains and has contributed to organisation sizes ranging from 3 people in proverbial dungeons to departments of 100+ in fancy open offices. He has implemented tech stacks from scratch and grown it to global scales, led compliance certification audits successfully, architected service-oriented systems, delivered software products end to end, and grown many technical humans.
Joseph is also a formally trained coach with experience in organisation development work.
Why Aijutsu exists
Aijutsu is a technology practice that leverages leadership experience, senior operator expertise, coaching methodologies, and AI to deliver business clarity and strategic solutions to organisations that want outcomes. The name carries the operating philosophy: 愛 (ai) — love for craft and people; AI — leveraging artificial intelligence for outsized outcomes with small teams; 居合 (iai) — the decisiveness of a single well-timed cut; 術 (jutsu) — expertise treated as technique, honed deliberately and never assumed finished.
Experience behind the practice
Joseph has architected and designed systems from scratch, owned and operated cloud infrastructure in highly regulated environments, and led platform-level regional expansions in startup configurations. He has led Platform Engineering and Compliance functions, grown engineering teams from scratch to multi-regional, and taken companies through ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certification audits — including the compliance automation behind them. He is also a trained ontological coach (Newfield Network), which is where the "coaching-informed" in Aijutsu's practice comes from.
